Visual Arts Therapist
Aline Filipe, MPS, is a recent graduate of the School of Visual Arts, having completed her masters degree in Art Therapy. Prior to attending SVA, Aline received her bachelors degree in psychology and art from Pace University. During her time at Pace University, Aline participated as a research assistant in the Social Cognition and Imagination Lab, with Dr. Thalia Goldstein, whose work focused on children's developing imagination, pretend play, and social skills. In her final year of university, Aline completed an extensive senior honors thesis research project on how adults understand and comprehend acting. This body of research went on to by published in a larger body of work with Dr. Goldstein, in the Review of General Psychology. Aline is currently working as an art therapist at Women Aware, the domestic violence agency for Middlesex County, and serves on the board for the New Jersey Art Therapy Association, as Student Liaison Chair. Aline has been with the Creative Communicators team since 2016, participating yearly in the summer theater program.
